Emilio Martinez Lazaro · This is a documentary film. In 1936, Spanish fascist officer F. Franco launched an armed rebellion and launched a civil war against the Republic (socialist nature). The army of the Republic once had the upper hand in the war. However, due to the support of the German and Italian fascists to the rebels and the isolation of Spain by Britain, France and the United States, the rebels occupied Madrid in 1939 and overthrew the government of the Republic. The civil war ended in April and the dictatorship of Spanish fascist Franco began. A massacre of Republicans began in the country, and most Republicans were forced to flee. Then 13 girls did not choose to escape. They were 13 female fighters of the Spanish United Socialist Youth League. They went underground in Madrid and continued to fight against the fascist rebels. In July 1939, they were imprisoned by the fascists in the Bentas Prison in Spain and were brutally tortured, but none of them yielded. A month later, they were all shot to death. Before they died, they wrote a heroic oath: "They can kill us, but they cannot destroy our thoughts. Our beliefs will change the world." When they were executed, the enemy tried to blindfold them, but they were refused. The girls looked directly at the executioner with their beautiful eyes wide open...

In 1939, the Nazis placed hundreds of Jewish escapees from all walks of life on a luxury liner with great fanfare and took them to Havana, Cuba for refuge. However, when the ship arrived at the port of Havana, the Cuban government refused entry to the Jewish passengers on board in accordance with the country's strict immigration policy. In fact, the Nazis had long expected such a result, and this was exactly what they wanted to see. When the exiles left Havana, the German government could use this to prove that the Jews were the most unpopular race in the world, thereby finding a reasonable excuse for Hitler's ethnic cleansing policy. Some people think that the undertone of this movie is chilling, but the ending of "The Last Life" still gives people a glimmer of hope: the subtitles tell us that most of the passengers on the ship finally escaped the disaster and survived.
