The Stolen Peace

Adapted from the biography "The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace" by Jeff Hobbs. The protagonist of this book is a boy named Robert Peace who grew up in the slums of Newark, New Jersey. He was admitted to Yale University as a biology major, but at the age of thirty, he died violently on the street during a fight with a drug gang. The story uses Robert's Yale roommate as the narrator, telling the story from the perspective of a bystander, who seems to have made a counterattack from the original class, but still cannot escape the tragic fate. The story of an inner-city Newark kid who attends Yale yet ultimately succumbs to harsh economic realities and the demons of his past.
