Battlefield

These are the years of the First World War, and Dr. Stefano Zorzi spends his days in the exemption clinic of a large city in northern Italy. There he not only cared for soldiers returning from massacres at the front, but also fought against those who wished to be exempted from service by committing mock and self-inflicted wounds by sending them to courts-martial. Stefano never expected to meet someone who deliberately sought pathology, like buying a lifeboat in order to save himself from a greater evil. But now he is tired of the conflict that has led him to become a prosecutor and a gendarme. Dr. Giulio Faraday works in an apartment in a remote building. He is a restless man who is fiercely opposed to war and has a tender and possessive love for those soldiers in his "private war." If Stefano did do his best to treat the soldiers and get them back to fight, Giulio made them sick or helped them harm themselves badly enough to be exempted from service. The two doctors, college classmates and good friends, secretly compete not only professionally, but also emotionally: they both have a connection to Anna, a brave nurse with a strong character.
