Grandma 2023

After the death of "Grandma" (the director mistakenly called her grandmother since childhood), director Cai Ling began to meet her old acquaintances and relatives - "Grandma"'s best friend and brother, as well as Cailing's grandmother. During the journey, the director visited different areas of Costa Rica, got a glimpse of the Chinese community, and found poetic reflections between the characters he met and the late "grandma". "Grandma's" past was revealed one by one, and Cailing was called by Eun Ping in her heart. "Grandma" started from Enping, a small village in southern China, and immigrated to Costa Rica, a small country in Central America, with the longing for the "Golden Mountain". This will be Cai Ling’s first time setting foot on Chinese soil. She had never learned Chinese and thought she understood China and its culture, but now she had to face real challenges. After wandering around, Cailing found the house left by her "grandma". And more importantly, she also found the true meaning of this journey.
