Twins: Doubled Brotherhood

This is Eli Manzo's 1985 masterpiece, which not only allowed him to receive Oscar recognition again after nearly two decades, but also allowed Czech films that had been absent for a long time to regain the attention of the international film community. The protagonist is a mentally retarded orphan who usually works as an assistant to a farm driver. Although he makes a lot of jokes, the two share a bond of love as father and son until a major mistake makes the driver the laughing stock of the whole village. He angrily decides to end their partnership. The kind-hearted and simple fool decided to bid farewell to his home and find a new job at Braglin Mining Company. Can he adapt to a completely different urban life? Can he let go of this weird but cute little village? Manzo's sketches of the town's liveliness and variety are slender and moving. IMDB rating: 8.0
