Thousands of Miles Home [Film and TV Commentary]

The movie is adapted from real events. War broke out in the Republic of Numea. Zong Dawei (played by Zhang Yi), a former resident diplomat, and Cheng Lang (played by Wang Junkai), a newcomer to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were ordered to assist in the evacuation of overseas Chinese. The mission ended successfully, but they learned that a group of trapped compatriots were heading to the border evacuation point under the leadership of Bai Hua (played by Yin Tao). In desperation, the two gave up the opportunity to go home and marched retrograde into the war zone. How do unarmed diplomats lead their compatriots to find a way home through war and desert, facing the guns of the rebels...
