Grandson Comes from the United States [Film and TV Commentary]

Lao Yangtou (played by Luo Jingmin) is an old artist living alone in Huaxian County, Shaanxi Province. His family has a complete set of shadow puppet performances. One day, his son, who had been away from home for many years, suddenly brought back his foreign girlfriend and foreign grandson Brooks (played by Ding Jiaming). The old Yangtou, who was shocked by his ideas, has not yet come to his senses. His son and girlfriend hurriedly entrusted Brooks to him because they were going to work in Hoh Xil. Caught off guard, Lao Yangtou had to act as a caregiver for his foreign grandson. The grandfather and grandson often clashed due to the cultural differences between the East and the West and the language barrier. In order to let Brooks drink fresh milk, Lao Yangtou approached the director of the rural cultural station Wang (played by Liu Tianzuo) who raised dairy cows. Stationmaster Wang, who was planning to start a class to inherit shadow puppetry, took the opportunity to invite Lao Yangtou to come back. Under the unremitting lobbying of Webmaster Wang and the influence of Brooks, Lao Yangtou's shadow puppet class was finally successfully launched. He and Brooks also became close because of the unique and warm communication method of shadow puppetry.
