The Duke of York (Colin Firth) Firth) suffers from a stutter and is unable to speak in public, which makes him embarrassed at large ceremonies one after another. In order to help her husband, virtuous wife Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter) visits famous doctors everywhere, but traditional methods never work. By chance, she comes to the mansion of speech therapist Lynal Rogge (Geoffrey Rush). Legend has it that his method is unique.
