The Heart of the Dog [Film and TV Commentary]

In an ordinary Italian town, Marcelo, a middle-aged man, opens a pet cleaning shop called "Dogman". Marcelo is a good person. He respects the weak, works hard, and has good popularity among friends and neighbors. Although his daughter lives with his ex-wife, he still maintains a good father-daughter relationship with his daughter. On the surface, Marcelo is an authentic, ordinary and honest man. But he has many harmful friends, Simon is one of them. After he was released from prison, he began extorting money in the neighborhood, quickly disturbing the peace in the area, and eventually landed Marcelo in jail. After being released from prison, Marcelo was discriminated against and abused. He goes to Simon for help, but is treated roughly. At this point, Marcelo "awoke", pretended to be fawning, and designed Simon to be put in a dog cage. All he wanted was an apology, but Simon died accidentally when he resisted. Marcelo calmed down and dragged Simon's body out on the street in order to prove that he had sought justice. However, people in the town left one after another, leaving only Marcelo, who was angry, sad, numb and confused.
