Alvin (Tom Holland) Holland) was born in a very devout Christian family. Although his father Willard (Bill Skarsgård) is silent and strict, he loves his children very much. From the time Alvin was very young, his father taught him to reveal all his inner thoughts to Jesus. Although Willard respected the Lord throughout his life, the Lord did not treat him kindly. Willard's wife suffered from an incurable disease. No matter how much Willard prayed, she eventually passed away. Willard, whose faith was shattered, chose to commit suicide. Alvin became an orphan and was taken in by his grandmother's family. At his grandmother's house, Alvin meets Lenora (played by Eliza Scanlen), who is also an orphan. Although the two are not related by blood, they are as close as brother and sister. Renola is also a devout believer. There is a new priest in town named Preston (Robert Pattinson). Preston took advantage of Lenora's faith and extended his claws to her innocence.
