Infernal Affairs [Film and TV Commentary]

In 1991, Ni Kun, the leader of the Hong Kong gang, was killed. Among the five leaders of the Ni family, except Han Chen (Eric Tsang), they all waited for an opportunity to betray and launch a rebellion. Unexpectedly, they were restrained by Ni Yongxiao (Francis Ng), the second generation of the Ni family, without any effort. This aroused the wariness of Inspector Huang Zhicheng (Anthony Wong), the originator of serious crimes, and sent police school student Chen Yongren (Shawn Yue) to infiltrate the Ni family for long-term undercover work. In order to consolidate his power, Han Chen had already installed informant Liu Jianming (Edison Chen) within the police. Three years later, Ni Yongxiao, whose career was booming, decided to annihilate the five major leaders in order to have peace of mind, but due to negligence, Han Chen slipped through the net. In 1997, Han Chen, who survived the catastrophe, returned to the world to avenge his dead colleagues. Huang Zhicheng approached him to discuss cooperation in getting rid of Ni Yongxiao. However, he soon discovered that this move was a big mistake. Chen Yongren and Liu Jianming, who were each troubled by their embarrassing identities, went further and further on the road of infernal affairs.
