Lei Luo 1 [Film and TV Commentary]

This film reflects the social problems of Hong Kong in the 1950s and 1960s by using the process of a Hong Kong policeman changing from an ideal youth to a generational tycoon. In 1949, the passionate young man Lei Luo (played by Andy Lau) became a policeman. At that time, the treatment of the Hong Kong police was not high, and the unspoken rules for the police to collect protection fees from businessmen had become common practice. Lei Luo was unwilling to join their ranks and was excluded by his colleagues. He also offended the powerful Detective Yan Tong (Qin Pei) and was in danger of being suspended from his job. However, Detective Chen Tong (Guan Haishan) secretly admired him and protected him. Lei Luo and Axia (played by Qiu Shuzhen), the daughter of the grocery store owner, are in love, but Axia's parents do not want their daughter to suffer with him and obstruct them in every possible way. Lei Luo drank to drown his sorrows, went to the underworld casino to cause trouble, and was beaten. Thanks to Detective Chen Tong, he rescued him and helped him raise a betrothal gift of 50,000 yuan.
