Galloping Life [Film and TV Commentary]

"The Proud Horse" is adapted from a true story. Penny Chenery (Diane Lane) was originally an ordinary housewife. She knew almost nothing about horse racing, but over the objections of her brother and husband, she took over the horse farm in Virginia from her ailing father. Although the horse farm had been losing money for a long time, she still had to travel between Colorado, where she was at home, and Virginia, where the horse farm was located. In order to find a good horse, Penny specially finds Lucien (John Malkovich), a horse trainer who has returned from retirement. This old man who always complains a lot treats Penny, a layman, differently. Penny took a fancy to a chestnut colt in the racecourse that could stand upright after rolling around, and named it "Secretary". Under Lucien's personality training, "Secretary" became an instant success when he first started out. It is as fast as lightning, runs as fast as flying, like a warrior, and will even get excited by the vibrations on the ground of the arena. When the time comes to decide the winner, will "Secretary" bear all the pressure, live up to Penny's expectations, and become the first horse to win the American Triple Crown in 25 years?
