Ministers of Namsan [Film and TV Commentary]

The movie "Ministers of Namsan" is based on the ministers (deputy prime minister level) of the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) and the political conspiracy they lead. It was originally a novel of the same name that exposed the inside story of Korean politics. It was re-created based on the story of Kim Jae-gyu and Kim Hyung-wook, the former ministers of the Central Intelligence Agency. In the second half of 1979, the YH female trade worker cage incident, the expulsion of New Democratic Party president Kim Young-sam as a member of the National Assembly, and the Buma incident in October broke out successively, making the political situation unstable. There was friction between Kim Jae-gyu of the Central Intelligence Agency and the hard-line head of the presidential security office, and Park Chung-hee gradually became disgusted and distrustful of him. On October 26, 1979, at the official residence of the Central Intelligence Agency in Gongjeong-dong, Jongno District, Seoul, Park Chung-hee and the chief of the presidential security room were shot dead with a pistol by Kim Jae-gyu during a banquet.
