You Should Have Left [Film and TV Commentary]

Far away from the hustle and bustle of the world, a house located in the Alps has welcomed a new owner. The male protagonist Theo (Kevin Bacon) is a well-known screenwriter. In order to find new creative inspiration, he moved to this quiet place with his wife Susanna (Amanda Seyfried) and his good daughter Ella (Avery Tiiu Essex). At first everything was harmonious and happy, but there seemed to be some unknown and terrifying existence hidden in the air. Nightmares, dark shadows, noises, and hallucinations plague the family from time to time. This day Theo discovered that his wife was unfaithful to him. After the two had a quarrel, Susanna left alone. After that, the strange phenomena intensified, during which his daughter disappeared mysteriously, and Theo found that the house seemed to have become an endless and unpredictable maze. He tried to leave with Ella, but as he wrote in his diary, "You should have left, but it was too late..." The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by German writer Daniel Kehlmann
