More than ten years after the Black Ship Incident, the secluded Tokugawa shogunate is facing a moment of drastic change. The heroes who overthrew the shogunate gathered together, and the shogunate faction intensified their strife, causing turmoil in the country for a while. In order to open up a new era of freedom for all people, the young swordsman Hiramura Kenshin (played by Takeru Sato) joins the command of Katsura Kogoro (played by Issey Takahashi), the leader of the Choshu Domain's fallen army, and gradually grows into a vanguard in killing those who stand in the way of the fall. For a time, the reputation of the executioner Battousai spread throughout Kyoto, but the lower-level samurai he accidentally killed left the first scar on his cheek that would not fade away. Soon after, Kenshin meets the melancholy and silent girl Yukiyoba (played by Arimura Kasumi). Baru works as a servant at a place where the fallen patriots gather. In the process, she seems to relax Kenshin, who has always been tense. But for these two people, torn by fate and time, what seems to be waiting for them is only the tragedy of eternal life...
The film is adapted from the manga of the same name by Nobuhiro Watsuki.
