Dongxi Assault

In 1935, after the Central Red Army broke through the Xiangjiang River, it marched to Guizhou and captured Zunyi. It was decided to hold an enlarged meeting (Zunyi Conference) in Zunyi. Chiang Kai-shek strictly ordered the Central Army of the Kuomintang and the Sichuan warlords to attack northern Guizhou. In order to ensure the smooth convening of the enlarged meeting, the Red Army organized multiple defense lines around Zunyi to block the Kuomintang Central Army. The Red Army's Red Army's First Division and Red Army's Second Regiment were ordered to station at the Yangjiao front line in Qijiang to guard the Sichuan warlords' troops, and killed the Sichuan Army's vanguard. They then sent a small squad to follow the defeated army to the Guanyin Bridge and Danxi areas to conduct reconnaissance and harassment, creating momentum for the Red Army to attack Chongqing, thereby blocking the Sichuan Army's advance to northern Guizhou.
