The Woman in Black

Adapted from the best-selling novel of the same name by Madeleine St John, it was set in the summer of 1959 in Sydney and against the backdrop of Australia’s cultural awakening, disintegration of class structure and women’s liberation. It tells the story of the growth of Lisa, a female student in suburbia. While Lisa was waiting for her college entrance examination results and dreaming of going to the University of Sydney, she took a summer job in a large department store, working side by side with a group of saleswomen. During this period, Lisa's horizons were opened and her transformation took place.
