The Young Prisoner

The film tells the story of an impressionable teenager, Michael McCrea. Michael, eighteen, lives with his grandfather Francis in an ordinary neighborhood in Dublin. Michael's life was turned upside down when he was sentenced to three months in prison for helping his friend's brother hide drugs. In prison, Michael became friends with an old drug dealer, and at the same time experienced all kinds of violence and coercion... This film attempts to deeply explore the reasons for Michael's crime, while showing the huge impact and change of prison life on a young man. From the production level, the film team interviewed many real prisoners from Ireland's "Prison Transition Project" and combined it with realistic elements to make the prison life in the film closer to reality.
