Taste of Cherry

Homayoun Ershadi Driving his car aimlessly in the suburbs full of construction sites, he picked up a new recruit who had recently joined the army, told him about his experience in the army, and then made his own request: to pay the recruit to bury his own body after committing suicide. The recruit panicked and ran away. Buddy continued to look for the buryer, but the homeless people on the construction site and the seminary students all rejected his request. An old man Bagheri (Abdolrahman Bagheri) who works in a museum boarded Buddy's car. Bagheri had committed suicide, but was finally saved by the sweet taste of cherries. In order to treat his son's disease, Bagheri agreed to Buddy's request. Buddy wandered outside the museum, his heart seemed to be shaken... The film won the Palme d'Or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival and the 1998 Boston Film Critics Association Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
