A lone wanderer arrives in a small town seeking revenge, only to encounter a greater challenge than he originally bargained for. The background of the film is a surreal dystopian society. In that society, the use of guns is prohibited, and the sword is the king. Nicholas, played by Ron Perlman, is the most powerful man in the entire eastern Atlantic. He is mysterious and the leader of a criminal group. He has made iron-blooded rules that everyone must surrender to. Nicola's wife Alexandra (played by Demi Moore) is a femme fatale with a mysterious past. There are nine killers around Nicholas, all of whom are dressed in red, hence the name "the Red Gang". Nicholas's most powerful henchman is Killer No. 2 (Kevin McKidd), who is hard-hearted and eloquent, and his weapon is a deadly blade. The local citizens were afraid of Nicholas's despotic power and the power of his hawks and dogs, and lived in fear, hoping that a hero would overthrow the tyrant's rule and save them from the fire and water.
