The Tree of Life

The story takes place in the American Midwest in the 1950s. It expresses the creator's views on life by telling the story of a typical American family. The protagonist is an 11-year-old boy named Jack (Hunter McCracken). He is one of three brothers in the family. His father (Brad Pitt) is strict and rough, and his mother (Jessica Chastain) is gentle but inactive. The death of his brother has changed his family. As an adult, Jack (Sean Penn) had a difficult life. When he thought about his life trajectory, he faced his memories again and began to look at his parents, family, and childhood from a different perspective. Finally, he forgave his father and gained a deeper understanding of life and faith. The film won the Palme d'Or at the 64th Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for Best Film, Best Director, and Best Cinematography.
