In black neighborhoods in the western United States, violence and crime occur almost all the time. Youths loitering on the streets and stinking corpses in the grass dot the daily life of elementary school student Tyree Sdale and his friends. Tyree has a talkative and competitive personality and fights with classmates in class. For his education, his mother sent Tyree to her ex-husband, Laurence Fishburne.
