This film is the most expensive film in Turkish history, with a production cost of 17 million US dollars. The film is adapted from the historical battle of Mehmet II to capture the Byzantine capital Constantinople in 1453. Production began in 2009 and lasted for three years. In 1453, Constantinople, the Byzantine capital, was besieged by Turkish invaders. As the empire's treasury gradually emptied, Constantinople was only a shadow of its former glory. Relatively speaking, the Turkish Empire gradually grew stronger. After enduring the Byzantine Empire for so many years, the ambitious Sultan Muhammad II (Devrim Evin) launched a campaign to end the Byzantine Empire. He led the cavalry and warships to capture the Byzantine capital Constantinople, thereby ending the Eastern Roman Empire's more than a thousand years of rule. He conquered Constantinople in the name of the Turks and established the Ottoman Empire as a country across Europe and Asia, where Eastern and Western civilizations met.
