A Letter from an Unknown Woman

The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by the famous writer Zweig and is produced by Universal Pictures. In 1885, 14-year-old Lisa (Joan Fontaine) has a crush on Stephen (Louis Jourdan), a pianist who lives next door. The romantic Stephen often brings women into his apartment, while the young Lisa is envious of that mysterious world. Even after she moved away, she still couldn't forget the pianist. When she became a beautiful girl, she came back to find the pianist and had a relationship with him. The pianist soon forgot about Lisa like the other women. Lisa gave birth to his son and later married an Austrian nobleman. Fifteen years later, the two met again. She left her husband and devoted herself to the only man she loved for the last time. The pianist acted as usual and soon forgot her. In the end, her son contracted typhoid fever and died. Lisa was exhausted mentally and physically and wrote a long letter to the pianist, describing her never-ending love for 15 years. After Lisa's death, the grieving husband asked for a duel with the pianist. After reading Lisa's touching letter, he was planning to escape and boarded the carriage heading to the duel...
