Story of the Wolves

More than two thousand years ago, the Han Dynasty sent troops to guard the border to fight against foreign invasion. General Zhang Anliang (played by Tuo Zonghua) led his troops to capture a foreign prince alive, hoping to use hostages to lure the enemy. His subordinate Lu Chenkang (played by Joe Odagiri) is kind-hearted by nature, resists bloody massacres, and even raises wolf cubs as companions. However, Zhang Anliang held Lu Shenkang in high regard. After a fierce battle, Zhang Anliang was injured and left the team, ordering Lu Chenkang to command the three armies. Due to heavy snow blocking the mountains, Lu Chenkang had no choice but to set up camp in Kalei Village. He accidentally discovered a foreign woman (played by Maggie Q) in his tent, and the two had a dispute. Lu Chenkang lost control for a moment, raped her and kept her secret in the tent. Through contact, the two slowly developed feelings. The woman told a legend about a man who turned into a wolf: when a male wolf and a female wolf are mated, if they are peeped by someone, they will chase the peeper until he dies. Will this legend come true and lead to the revelation of their affair... This film is adapted from the novel by Japanese writer Yasushi Inoue. It is Tian Zhuangzhuang's first time directing a historical masterpiece, with Wang Zhiwen dubbing Joe Odagiri.
