The Beggar

During the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, Yang Luchan (played by Wang Qun), a young man in Yongnian County, Zhili, practiced martial arts since he was a child. In order to improve, he followed the instructions of his master and came to Chenjiagou, Wen County, Henan Province, and prepared to become a disciple of Tai Chi master Chen Changxing. As soon as he entered Chenjiagou, he fought with Chen's apprentices because of the injustice on the road. Chen had a stubborn temper and refused to accept apprentices. Although Yang Luchan was sincere and pertinent, she still failed to change Chen's mind. Yang was furious and Juechen left, vowing to return after completing his studies in ten years and compete with Chen. After that, he successively worshiped Zeng Daye, Zong Shengsun and others as his disciples, and eventually both master and disciple turned against each other. After three years, the downcast Yang Luchan returned to Chenjiagou. This film is based on the deeds of Tai Chi master Yang Luchan. Yang studied under Chen Changxing and later evolved Yang Style Tai Chi through continuous improvement and refinement.
