The Sixth Child

The impoverished Frank family has five children, and their sixth child is about to be born. Another middle-class lawyer couple is unable to have children. The two families began a deal on the dark side of the law. The film uses the suspense film genre to wrap up the old theme of human trafficking in a novel way. The class differences of the characters cannot hide the common humanity, and the lawyer knowing the law and breaking the law is even more helpless and ironic. The film uses a special 1.50:1 frame to tighten the scene separation, focus on the characters' expressions and psychological states, and highlight individual choices under the legal order. Nominated for the 2023 César Award for Best Debut and Best Supporting Actress, and won the 2023 Lumière Award for Best Debut.
