Glory Days

During World War II from 1944 to 1945, a group of Algerian Islamic boys were drafted into the army and incorporated into the French army to participate in the counterattack against Germany. Abdeckard (Roschdy Zem) was awarded the rank of corporal for passing the military theory examination. Under the orders of his superiors, he led his brothers from the same village into the ranks of the stern Sergeant Martinez (Bernard Blancan). In the first training, the short boy Said (played by Jamel Debbouze) almost caused a catastrophe when responding to the sergeant's inspection of a mine. Fortunately, the sergeant's quick action and quick reaction allowed these recruits to survive. In the battle, these recruits showed bravery, especially the corporal, and the sergeant regarded him with special respect. During lunch, due to discrimination against African soldiers, the food distribution was extremely unfair. For the rights of soldiers of all races, the corporal did not hesitate to contradict the sergeant. Did the two form a personal grudge? What is the fate of African soldiers?
