The Dancing Girl of Izu

This film is adapted from Kawabata Yasunari's famous novel "The Dancing Girl of Izu". Kawashima (Tomokazu Miura), who is about to attend a high school in Tokyo, traveled to Izu during the summer vacation before the start of school. On a mountain road that was sunny and rainy at times, he met a group of traveling kabuki performers. He was attracted by one of the petite and exquisite dancers with an ancient bun and a drum on her back. He decided to go on the road with them. On the way, he learned that the dancer's name was Kaoru (Momoe Yamaguchi). Regardless of the low status of kabuki artists, Kawashima often invited them to play in the hotel where he stayed. After spending time alone with Kaoru, he was even more shocked by her pure and flawless beauty, and fell into a contradiction. On the one hand, he was troubled by his uncontrollable impulse, and on the other hand, he was worried that she might be insulted during the performance. In the interaction between the two, Xun gradually developed true feelings. But the two of them can only be passers-by in each other's lives.
