General Liu Zhong was born in 1906 in Caixi Village, Caixi Town, Shanghang County. In 1927, he joined the Caixi District Farmers Association, and in 1929 he participated in the leadership of the Caixi Farmers' Uprising. In the same year, he joined the Party and joined the Red Army, making an indelible contribution to the founding of New China. In 1955, he was awarded the rank of lieutenant general and won the second-level August 1st Medal, the first-level Medal of Independence and Freedom, and the first-level Liberation Medal.
