Police Soul

This is a modern police film based on real people and true events. The film creates a glorious image of a contemporary people's policeman who is authentic, credible, respectable and amiable. Peng Baolin——retired from the army in 1987 and later served as the economic police officer of Huiyang County Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. In 1991, he volunteered to be transferred to Huiyang County Laojie Police Station as a police officer. Peng Baolin is always strict with himself at work and loves the people. On May 14, 1993, while performing a mission, Peng Baolin suddenly encountered the hidden wanted criminal Hong Kong triad leader Au Yiu-huang. The gangsters threatened the hostages and resisted arrest with guns. Peng Baolin, despite being seriously injured, started a fierce battle with the gangsters and killed the gangsters. In the end, Peng Baolin died heroically in the line of duty because his rescue efforts failed. He set a glorious example for the contemporary people's police with his youthful passion. The Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China posthumously awarded Peng Baolin the title of National First-Class Hero Model. The film won the Outstanding Feature Film Award at the China Film Huabiao Awards in 1994 and the Best Feature Film Award at the 15th Golden Rooster Awards in 1995.
