The Anti-Japanese War broke out in 1937. Following the defeat in the Songhu War, Nanjing was in a tight situation. When the survival of the Chinese nation was in danger, the Nationalist Government announced that it would move the capital to Chongqing. From February 18, 1938 to December 19, 1944, the Japanese army carried out indiscriminate bombing of Chongqing and surrounding areas for six years and ten months. Faced with the brutal and indiscriminate bombing by the Japanese army, the citizens of Chongqing remained resilient, optimistic and strong, demonstrating the national integrity of Chongqing and China.
