Carla Nowak (29), a young physical education and mathematics teacher, started her first job in a grammar school. Kara stood out among the new hires because of her idealism. However, a series of unsolved thefts left faculty emotionally affected. When a Turkish student is suspected and brought before the strict headmistress in unseemly circumstances, Kara is determined to get to the bottom of the matter. With the help of a hidden camera, she convicts the thief: to her surprise, the academy's inconspicuous secretary Friederike Kuhn (47) seems to be behind it. But the discovery of the crime plunges Kara into an unsolvable dilemma: Friederike Kuhn is also the mother of 13-year-old Oskar Kuhn, Kara's most talented student.
