Bandits

The film tells the legendary story of a generation of famous general Qi Jiguang who conquered the Japanese pirates in the south and restored peace along the coast. During the Jiajing period in the mid-Ming Dynasty, the local officials were corrupt and the Ming army was unmotivated. The Japanese pirates took advantage of the situation and repeatedly invaded the southeastern coast. At a time of internal and external troubles, Qi Jiguang (played by Zhao Wenzhuo) was ordered to face danger, and he and Yu Dayou (played by Sammo Hung) recruited 3,000 Yiwu villagers on their own. In just a few days, they trained the new recruits with strict military discipline and extraordinary means, and armed the troops with advanced weapons and exquisite formations. They became the first "special forces" in history and the famous "Qi Family Army" at home and abroad.
