There was an overly frightened little girl wandering in the desert, and the only thing she uttered was one word: monster! Any fan of 1950s horror movies will tell you right away that the "monsters" she's referring to are giant ants, a byproduct of local nuclear testing. These giant ants are very organized, carnivorous and huge, about 8 to 20 feet in size. They swarm in the sewer system of Los Angeles, like a giant ant campus, ready to take over the world. The elite humans who must confront these monsters are New Mexico Police Department Detective James Whitmore, FBI Representative James Yannis, and a pair of father-daughter entomologists played by Edmond Guern and Joanne Weldon.
