Dreamers on the Rice Waves

"Dreamers on the Rice Waves" is a 60-minute documentary. The story begins with a grain of rice. Liang Zhengxian, the son of a rice factory in Chishang, Taitung, does not look like a grain merchant in the eyes of outsiders. 20 years ago, he promoted the cultivation of organic rice and suffered an annual loss of 4 million for 8 consecutive years. Then he opened his eyes every day and stood up to argue for an origin stamp that was only 3 x 5 centimeters in size. He bravely fought against huge interests and won the first exclusive rice identity certificate in Taiwan. Over the past 20 years, Chishang has been home to several champion rice farmers. The price of rice in Chishang has reached the highest level in Taiwan, drastically changing the lives of farmers. Later, the annual Autumn Harvest Art Festival made Chishang, located in the southeastern corner of Taiwan, featured in international magazines and attracted tourists, transforming it into a different rural area. The beauty of Chishang is not only Paradise Road and Jincheng Wushu, but also the deep love between land and people, and between people from generation to generation, in this vast, hundreds of hectares of rice fields that have not been cut off by human construction. The recording team spent two and a half years entering the lives of farmers, recording the experiences of farmers of different generations growing organic rice, and also recording the four seasons of Chishang.
