The Grandfather of Tricks, Chen Mengji Mandarin

This film is a late Qing Dynasty comedy co-written by South China movie kings Zhang Ying and Liang Tian. The two play the absurd mirror of "Master Diao" and the "resourceful man" Chen Mengji respectively in the film. Their roles compete with intelligence and acting skills, creating sparks. The story describes that the resourceful Chen Mengji came to Shunde with his servant in order to find out the whereabouts of his junior sister. Later, he learned that the famous local "Master Diao" was ridiculous and mean-spirited, so he applied for the job disguised as a servant and put forward three conditions. Unexpectedly, Chen would be caught in a sore spot, and a series of "fighting of wits and strength" brain competitions immediately began.
