Flora and Son

Flora (Eve Hewson), a young mother living in Dublin who has long since lost her ambitions, is trying to raise her son Max (Orén Kinlan) while juggling a subsistence childcare job and a fraught co-parenting arrangement with an unfriendly ex. The relationship between mother and son is tense and they struggle to understand each other. Flora disguises herself as a selfish person to seek autonomy and self-love. Max, longing for independence and self-expression, embarks on the path of crime and becomes a thief. The police encouraged Flora to find a hobby for Max. Flora gave her son a discarded second-hand guitar as a birthday gift, but was rejected by the latter. She decided to learn from a music-loving teacher through Zoom. As mother and son build a relationship, Max's own musical talent is revealed, and music will reenergize lives, awaken long-dormant dreams, and allow people who grew up in isolation to make new connections.
