The Last Battle

In 1939, the Anti-Japanese War entered an arduous stalemate stage. The iron hoof of Japanese aggression was blocked on the battlefield in Hunan, and Hunan became the forefront of the frontal battlefield of the Anti-Japanese War. In 1945, the Japanese invaders entered western Hunan, and the "Battle of Western Hunan", the last battle in the history of the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese War, started in western Hunan. The arrogant Japanese army swept all the way to Zhijiang, Huaihua in western Hunan, and attempted to seize the Zhijiang Air Force Base. However, they were repelled by the brave people of Xiangxi, and the Japanese conspiracy failed in the end. The brutal war lasted from April 9 to June 7, with more than 50,000 casualties and heavy losses on both sides. As the "last battle" that defeated the Japanese army and led to its final surrender, it is undoubtedly an indelible chapter in the history of the Chinese nation's Anti-Japanese War. This battle gave Japan the most fatal blow and ultimately ended in victory for the people of Western Hunan.
