Waiting for Superman

Once upon a time, the United States claimed to have the best public education system in the world. However, in the past thirty years, although politicians have constantly emphasized the need to improve the education system full of shortcomings, the education situation of children has never improved. Instead, it presents a worrying prospect. Most of these children born in ordinary families have huge obstacles in reading and mathematics, and their average levels are much lower than those in other developed countries on the planet. Some high schools have even become notorious dropout factories, with countless teenagers entering society prematurely. The state spends far more on a prisoner than on a student. The current public education system in the United States presents a paradoxical situation where the cart is put before the horse. Should we take active action to eliminate the shortcomings in this field, or should we sit on the ground and wait for the emergence of Superman? The film won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
