In 1912, Xiang Jingyu studied at the Provincial No. 1 Women's Normal College. After graduation, she returned to her hometown and founded Xupu Girls' School. Later, Xiang Jingyu went to France for a work-study program and formed the "Xiang Cai Alliance" with Cai Hesen. Xiang Jingyu returned to China in 1921. At the Second National Congress of the Communist Party of China, she was elected as a member of the Central Committee and the first Minister for Women. At the Third National Congress of the Communist Party of China, she was elected as a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee. Later, Xiang Jingyu served as secretary of the Central Women's Movement Committee of the Kuomintang. In 1925, Xiang Jingyu led and organized the May 30th Movement, which shocked China and the world. After the failure of the revolution, Xiang Jingyu insisted on staying in Wuhan and shouldered the heavy responsibility of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China. In 1928, Xiang Jingyu was arrested by the French police station. He died heroically on May 1 of the same year at the age of 32.
