In 1947, Chiang Kai-shek blatantly tore up the peace agreement and launched a full-scale civil war in the liberated areas. Zhang Lingfu led the ace main reorganization 74th Division to attack Huainan to Huaibei, and attacked Lianshui City twice. After twelve days and nights of bloody fighting, Army Commander Shen Zhenxin led his troops to break through and defeated Maicheng. Zhang Lingfu fought successively and conquered Huaiyin, Suxian and Linyi, fought from northern Jiangsu to southern Shandong, and captured our base areas in northern Jiangsu and southern Shandong. He threatened to solve the Shandong problem within three months and capture Chen Yi and Su Yu alive. In this situation where the enemy was strong and we were weak, Mao Zedong strategized in Yan'an and made a strategic decision to merge the Shandong Field Army and the Central China Field Army to form the East China Field Army, concentrating his forces to fight in the south and north, and to eliminate Chiang Kai-shek's effective forces. In order to annihilate the Shandong People's Liberation Army in one fell swoop, Chiang Kai-shek mobilized more than 200,000 men from Tang Enbo's Corps to advance from south to north with Zhang Lingfu's 74th Division as the vanguard. He also ordered Jinan's Li Xianzhou Corps to push from north to south to the Laiwu and Xintai lines in an attempt to attack our army from the north and the south. Chen Su decided to stay in Shen Zhenxin to block the attack on the southern front, while the large forces surrounded and annihilated the Li Xianzhou Department, and the famous Laiwu Campaign began. The 50,000 enemy troops in Laiwu attempted to break through toward the silk spinning mouth. Shen Zhenxin led his airmen to seize the silk-spinning mouth, cut off the enemy's retreat, and completely annihilated the Li Xianzhou Corps. Unwilling to be defeated, Chiang Kai-shek took Zhang Lingfu as the vanguard and attacked Mengyin County, Shandong Province in an attempt to
