The Piano of Steel 2010

In the early 1990s, a heavy industrial city in Northeast China. After being laid off, Chen Guilin (played by Wang Qianyuan), a former steel factory worker, started a band by himself. He spent all day running around in weddings, funerals, and shop openings, barely making ends meet. His wife Xiaoju (played by Zhang Shenying) ran away from home and turned to the arms of a wealthy counterfeit medicine dealer. Now that Xiao Ju is back in glory, she not only wants to divorce Guilin, but also competes for the custody of her only daughter, Xiao Yuan. Guilin lamented his fate of failure, so he devoted himself to training his daughter to become a pianist. In order to get his daughter, he went around raising money to buy a piano, and even went to school at night to steal the piano with his girlfriend Shuxian (played by Qin Hailu) and his good buddies from the steel factory. When all methods failed, Guilin accidentally found a Russian document about pianos, so he called his partners to start the journey of hand-making pianos in a dilapidated factory...
