"Sports Fat Man" is an Olympic youth inspirational light comedy jointly initiated by the State Sports General Administration and Peking University. Ji Ning, director of the Beijing Olympics Expert Committee, serves as the chief producer and director, Luo Weiwei, a researcher at the China Sports Industry Research Center of Peking University, serves as the producer, and is directed by the well-known Hong Kong director Hu Chuxi. This TV series uses the legendary background of "Song-Liao Sports Alliance" and "Civet Cat for Prince" as its legendary background. It tells the story of a group of young people in the Song Dynasty who became heroes from little people through their own efforts and fair competition. The drama started filming in Hengdian, Zhejiang Province on October 18, 2011.
