The story takes place in Fengxiang County, Baoji Prefecture, Shaanxi Province during the Zhengde period of the Ming Dynasty. The mother of Qin Kunpeng, the hereditary commander, gave Sun Yufeng a jade bracelet, and Sun Yufeng gave him a lotus picture in return, and the two families were engaged. You Caifeng's aunts and uncles, Chu Sheng and Jia, stayed at You's house overnight. They were both killed, and Jia's head was missing. Shang Chao was picking up a baggage at night and saw a woman's head, which he threw into a cinnabar well. He was afraid of his clerk Sun Yuxiu, the reporter, and pushed him into the well to kill him. The next day, he went to the county government to file a complaint, lying that Sun Yuxiu had stolen money and then escaped.
