Meili (played by Li Sheng), who came from the grasslands of Inner Mongolia and was named Heshuo Gege, met Prince Qing Jingxuan (played by He Shengming). The two fell in love at first sight. If it were anywhere else, this would be a happy story for everyone. But Meili and Jingxuan, who had no choice but to fall in love with each other, were born in the wrong place - the palace. There are too many people involved in the relationship between the two, so the love that should only belong to the two is interfered by others, especially the opposition of Jingxuan's mother Taifujin (played by Dai Chunrong). The two also went further and further apart because of their misunderstanding, and have since embarked on a difficult road of no return. The two people who were obviously in love, due to suspicion and a strange combination of circumstances, let go of each other's hand. What is left to the other party is the pretense of being strong and the hesitation that cannot be looked at directly; what is not seen is the sadness and hesitation of the other party when there is no one around; and the only thing that remains unchanged is the red thread that cannot be broken no matter how much it is torn and damaged, still lingering between their fingers. This play is adapted from Xue Lingzhi's novel "Shangli".
