Several surrounding counties and cities were liberated / and the city of Anqiu was also in danger of falling. The Japanese and puppets in the city were panic-stricken / and the people secretly clapped their hands and cheered. About 20 miles east of Anqiu City / there is a large town called Donkey's Horse Bridge. It was originally the largest livestock market in central Hebei / hence the name. Donkey's Horse Bridge is an important transportation road from Anqiu to Baoding. It is also passed by the Pinghan-Han Railway and is an important military town. After the fall of North China / the Japs deployed heavy troops to guard the area and placed it under the jurisdiction of Anqiu. With the outbreak of the Pacific War and the successive defeats of the Japanese army on the Chinese battlefield / the supply of troops could not be replenished. Like other places / the Japanese and puppet troops stationed at Donkey's Horse Bridge were wiped out one by one. There were originally more than 100 Japanese soldiers and more than 200 puppet troops / but now less than one-third remain. The story of this play begins here and now.
