Wuchang Shouyi

An accidental event triggered an inevitable revolution; an immature new force overthrew the ruling class that had existed for thousands of years in one fell swoop; A political power seized with the blood and flesh of revolutionaries was eventually given to counterrevolutionaries; a story of rebellion full of tragedy and contradiction. The 32-episode TV series "Wuchang Shouyi" presents for the first time a comprehensive, panoramic, detailed and vivid display of the epic and tragic story of the Hubei revolutionaries who seized power and defended it during the bloody 83 days from October 9 to December 31, 1911. It shows the fearless revolutionary spirit of the revolutionaries led by Sun Yat-sen, who did not hesitate to sacrifice their lives and blood for the rise and revitalization of China, and their great achievements that shocked the world by overthrowing the feudal dynasty that had ruled China for thousands of years. At the same time, it also reveals the painful lesson that due to the weakness of the bourgeoisie itself and the incompleteness of the revolution, the revolutionaries, lacking unified thinking and unified leadership, finally gave up the fruits of victory of the revolution to the old warlords, causing the revolution to suffer heavy losses. The whole play begins with the awakening of the sleeping lion and ends with the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of China. It uses documentary techniques to describe in detail the various behaviors of the three major camps: the Hubei revolutionaries, the Qing government in Beijing, and the Beiyang warlords headed by Yuan Shikai during the Wuchang offensive and defensive war.
