Memories Block House

As if the end of the world, floods swept across the earth, and the world became a vast ocean, empty and lonely. An old man lives alone in this world, either leaning on the railing and looking into the distance, or watching TV to kill time, with few people to communicate with. As the water level keeps rising, the old man can only keep building more houses, like stacks of blocks. The house is like a giant tower standing in the deep sea. While moving the furniture, the old man's pipe accidentally fell into the water and fell down the passage between the layers. The pipe holds memories shared by him and his wife. The old man is determined to dive to retrieve the pipe, but this action seems to open the floodgates of memory, and memories of the past continue to emerge. The old man couldn't help himself and sank layer by layer, looking for those precious memories that had long sunk to the bottom of the sea... This film won the 2009 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
